Laurel Hill Picnic

A Sunday picnic at the Laurel Hill Cemetery with Adelaide Paul and Mary Jo Bole. It was rather gloomy out but the rain held of until we were just about to leave.

I highly recommend a trip to this historical cemetery. It is full of the most amazing grave markers that are inscribed with strangely beautiful but very antiquated text. Also some of the stones made of white marble are so eroded you can hardly make out the decoration. The once blooming flowers have become wilted and almost composted looking.

I really loved the mixture of styles in grave markers. There are very ornate carved marble roses next to very modern looking granite Columns. And this metal and wood cross in with the marble crosses.

I also was quite taken with this sad lion who has been melting for years atop of this block
